Doctoral Work Update

Hello Everyone!

Well, I have just stumbled over the world of blogging and thought I would give it a try.

Although there are no current followers to this blog, I hope some people will join it soon.

I am currently working towards completing my doctoral dissertation at Fordham University in New York.

This doctoral work is being conducted in the Graduate School of Religion and Religious Education. The topic I have chosen concerns a great figure of the first half of the twentieth century in the life of the Coptic Orthodox Church: Archdeacon Habib Jirjis.

It is a long process with many stages. I have completed my coursework and my Qualifying Paper. The Qualifying Paper has been reviewed by my supervising professor and has today been sent to the two readers for their approval.

I have also completed my Thesis Proposal and it has also been reviewed by my supervisor and has been sent to my editor before it goes back to the supervisor and then to the readers. So you can see that each section or chapter goes through a lengthy process before approval is granted.

I am now currently working on chapter four of the thesis that will speak about Archdeacon Habib Jirjis' reform philosophy.

In my next blog I will tell you more about Habib Jirjis and about my thesis.

Thanks for reading and I would love to receive your comments.

  2. Sayedna that is fantastic! I wish you the best of luck. It must be very interesting to study so deeply the life of Habib Jirjis. He was truly remarkable and often underrated for what he gave our Church.

Are you residing in New York through this process, or are you back at Australia?

  3. Thanks David, it is very inspiring and frustrating at the same time to study Habib Jirjis. He wanted to achieve so much but he was not always able to due to many obstacles.

I am now in New Jersey. Where are you from David? Have a wonderful day.

  9. Sayedna,

I am from Rhode Island. We briefly spoke yesterday regarding the new Church. It seems like every time you visit the United States, we meet and then talk, take a picture together and then you forget what I look like. haha. You're a true blessing Your Grace, and I truly admire your knowledge and determination to further it through a Doctoral Degree. Keep me in your prayers.

It is great to see Your Grace do such great work and research on an amazing and important character in the history of the Coptic Church, who has benefited the Church greatly- even till today.

Could your Grace post some of Habib Jirjis's most inspiring thought or ideas?

    Pleas pray for us

  15. I had a boss who told me, it is easier to write a long letter rather than a short concise one. Your grace is right when you said it is a process to learn how to read all the information and write only the key word. May god grand your Grace the patience, the knowledge and the understanding needed to complete your thesis successfully. Amin.
